We are an independent drilling contractor based in Romania, Eastern Europe established in 2007 and committed to serve the mining industry and providing exploration & geotechnical drilling services at the highest standards as requested by our clients. The success of our clients guarantees our future, so we like to become a part of any exploration project we are working on by providing the best service possible.

Technical assistance – We always find fast and efficient ways of providing technical assistance and backup support to drilling operations thus aiming to eliminate stand-by times.

All drilling works must be completed using environmentally safe methods and always comply with the local laws and regulations.

SERVICES

Our services include, but, are not limited to: deep exploration core drilling, directional diamond drilling utilizing NAVI motors and wedges, reverse circulation drilling, geotechnical and hydrogeological drilling.

Surface Exploration Drilling
In order to deliver the best solution for the job, Tehnofor Star offers a team of surface coring experts and a diverse fleet of surface coring rigs and equipment to meet the toughest project requirements.

Deep Hole Drilling
Tehnofor Star experts have extensive technical knowledge and experience in deep wire-line core drilling techniques. With our expertise and selection of deep capacity drills, we reach depths exceeding 2000 meters.

Directional Drilling
Directional drilling is a technique that enables the drill bit to be directed toward a specified coordinate to reach a designated target which can include several points off a main hole. It can also be used to get back on course if drilling deviates from the desired path. Directional drilling has a long history in the oil and gas industry and is increasingly being used in mining thanks to technological advances that have made steering tools more feasible for mining equipment. Compared with traditional core drilling, directional drilling can provide greater mineral production from one hole and save significant time and costs. Safety and environmental benefits can be realized as well by not moving drill rigs to new sites and drilling multiple surface holes.

CORE RECOVERY

No matter what ground conditions we encounter, we always endeavor to provide the best core recovery possible. When core recoveries drop significantly below 85% and over a significant interval, due to broken ground, fissures or sheared formation, we utilize ‘industry standard best practices’ to maximize core recoveries which may include, but not be limited to, short core runs, drilling mud mixtures, core-size, basket core lifters, split tubes, triple tube drilling, etc.

EQUIPMENT maintenance & working conditions

We keep all drilling equipment in the best working condition at all times by performing daily routine checks and by doing regular maintenance to avoid long repair times.

All drilling equipment complies with local health and safety regulations.

Drilling tools: For shorter hole corrections, wedges (window, full-hole and retrievable) are effective in steering the bit to the desired target zone. Sharper angles can be achieved with a positive displacement mud motor or wedges. While mud motors are more costly than wedges and require additional technical support, this technique saves costs in the long term through increased efficiency and production. Tehnofor Star offers directional motors and pumps for directional drilling projects and with the help of the advanced technology for monitoring and reporting, we can accurately steer to target within budget.

OUR TEAM & QUALIFICATIONS

Our team includes field, management and workshop people with experience over 15 years in drilling industry. To date they have worked in various projects in Europe and Africa.
Our employees have successfully completed:
the full course at the Fundamentals for Drilling – an Accreditation program organized by IADC Well Control in Miskolc – Hungary.
Training courses organized by Labour office in Romania.
